Real Wedding: Romantic Country House Wedding in Newbury
This blog takes a look at the romantic country house wedding of Emma & Ollie which took place in June at the stunning Shaw House in Newbury. Nothing says romance more than the tradition of a ‘June bride’ and you can’t get more traditional and romantic than setting that wedding in a historical country house in the heart of the English Countryside.
June bride at Shaw House
Have you ever wondered where the tradition of “June brides” came from? I did, so I did some research and was surprised to learn the tradition dates back to Roman times. Romans celebrated the festival of the deity Juno and his wife Jupiter, who was the goddess of marriage and childbirth, on the first day of June. Hence why June became a popular month to tie the knot. Later in Victorian times, the tradition continued as flowers were abundant in June to use for wedding décor. And here in 2019 the tradition is still going strong to be a ‘June Bride’.

Not forgetting the boys
The boys all looked equally handsome in their matching dark navy suits.
Shaw House as a wedding venue needs little in terms of additional decoration as the features of the house are decoration enough. Emma & Ollie choose to keep things simple with a colour scheme of whites and greens. The hall looked beautifully classic with a traditional top table and round tables for their guests.
Wedding party time
Fast forward a few hours and the Great Hall is now party central. It certainly looked like everyone had a great time.
